This programme has been designed to give you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge that gives
you the opportunity to progress on to the year 2 and 3 electrical installation qualifications. With teaching and instruction
from specialist staff you will gain an understanding of and a variety of practical skills which include:

- Wiring and terminals
- Fabrication techniques
- Electrical science and technology
- Structure of the construction industry
- Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
- Site preparation in the construction industry

Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the construction industry, and this will be reinforced
throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedded in the programme along with
specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade 4 or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements.

In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you
into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers and universities. At CRC we call this package of
skills the Passport to Success. Core skills, Employability, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with
your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to
employment or further and higher education.

Course programme

Successful completion of all elements of this study programme will allow you to progress in several different ways,
including:

- Further full time training onto the Year 2 Electrotechnical Craft
- Gaining employment within the Electrical industry and undertaking an apprenticeship scheme to gain further
qualifications and experience.

To access this course, you will need to have 2 GCSEs to include grade 4 (C) in Maths and preferably 3 (D) in English, general education and a keen interest in the world of Electrical installations

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

Learning takes place through a variety of theory and practical lessons. Students will also need to carry out personal
research to enable them to successfully complete the course and guidance on this will be given by the course tutors.

Your skills and knowledge will be continuously assessed throughout the course; additionally each unit will be assessed
by end multiple choice examinations and practical tests. Support will be provided through regular meetings with your
course tutor.
