You will be trained in 'entry level' construction techniques meaning that training will cover various aspects of the trade at a level suited to newcomers. Some elements include: road and path types, kerb laying, concreting, block paving and excavation and reinstatement techniques.

Course programme

This programme is designed for those students who wish to start a career in groundworks, but are currently not working in the industry.
On successful completion of the first year students will achieve the Level 1 Diploma in Groundworks. They will also undertake Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT.
To achieve the Diploma, students must be successful in all units and the synoptic practical assignment. They must also pass the online tests at the end of the year.
