This qualification focuses on fundamental practical skills and knowledge. Successful completion of the qualification will ensure that the learner will have gained an understanding of the core skills and knowledge required by an electrician working within the sector. The qualification does not require occupational evidence. - Introduction to health and safety in construction
- Introduction to the construction industry
- Connecting flex to common apparatus
- Installing one way lighting circuits
- Installing two way lighting circuits
- Working with low carbon steel pipes and fittings
- Assembling 13amp switched sockets wired in ring final circuit
- Cutting, bending, joining and threading conduit
- Constructing PVC wiring systems
- Maths and English at an appropriate level
NOTE: As part of your programme of study, there is an expectation that you undertake a timetabled work placement or experience block of learning, this is designed to enable you to gain experience of the industry.
You will also have the opportunity to complete additional modules from our construction skills portfolio, Including: Electrical, Plastering, Brickwork, Joinery, Plumbing and Paint and Decorating, This will allow you to gain a wider experience of the industry and increase you skills.
Method of Study
There will be a combination of workshop based practical activity and assessment as well as classroom based theory.
Additional information
On-going assessment will take place throughout the course. All assessments within this qualification are externally set by City and Guilds, centre marked assignments and practical assessments.
