Course Overview

This course covers a wide range of introductory subjects to help you begin to learn about health and social care and what you can expect from a career in this field.

Your learning experience will include factual subjects such as legislation and the principles and values of health and social care, as well as practical subjects which will help develop the skills which are part of caring for and helping people.

Across the year you will be taught nine units which together will give you a foundation of knowledge in health and social care and help you decide where you would like to progress to next.

You will also get the opportunity to develop a range of practical skills and attributes essential for successful performance in the work environment

You will be taught in a classroom environment using a range of different formats including group work, IT and independent study. Support is provided for a wide range of academic and personal needs ensuring you get the most out of your course and your time at this College.

Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE.
