About this course

This course is for anyone considering working with children in an educational environment in a supporting role.

None, however, a good level of literacy and numeracy skills are essential to progress on to the L2 certificate. Additional literacy and numeracy classes can be arranged to support/improve levels in readiness for your progression to the next course.

How will I learn?

You will learn through discussion, group work, class sessions, tutor led activities, independent study and homework.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

Your work will be continually monitored and assessed by your Tutor. It will also be marked by an Internal Quality Assessor and an External Assessor from NCFE.

Progression opportunities

Yes. Natural progression is to NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, where you will complete the other six units. You will be required to have successfully gained a work placement prior to enrolment on to the L2.

What equipment or materials will I need to provide?

You will require paper, a pen, 13 file dividers and a lever arch file. For progression to Level 2 you will need to obtain DBS clearance. This is covered during your 10 week course and your Tutor will provide you with full advice.

What other support is available?

Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify.
