About this course
Minimum entry age is 18 years. It is recommended that candidates have some experience of working with children and young people between 0 and 15 years old. Candidates must have or be working towards levels of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE Grade C and above in English Language and Mathematics or be proficient in literacy and numeracy equivalent to that level.

Level 2 Certificate in Developing Skills for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools plus an additional work placement of a minimum of 40 hours
This qualification consists of 4 mandatory units and 1 optional unit:

Unit 02 Support teaching and learning
Unit 03 Explore and understand how to keep children safe
Unit 04 Support children†s development

Course structure:
The qualifications aim to enable learners to understand the roles and responsibilities of those involved in supporting teaching and learning in schools, and provide an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to do this effectively. They prepare learners to support the teacher and the delivery of curriculum within a school, as well as introduce skills to help children and young people develop self-esteem, independence and skills for learning.
