Course programme

The programme provides students with the basic building blocks of engineering, acting as an introduction to other engineering programmes. Over the year, students will complete units in Health and Safety, Computer Aided Engineering, Machining Techniques, Fabrication Techniques, Engineering Materials, Work Skills and Functional Skills. The programme is approximately an 80/20 split of theory and practical work.You will learn through a mixture of theory and practical sessions. Visits and trips may be used to allow students to visualise certain elements of the programme. You will be assessed through a number of written assignments and in certain units, practical assessments and two external exams (one written, one online).
