2. Course description The programme includes a variety of engineering topics, providing a broad understanding of engineering disciplines. Units you will study include:- four core units: Using/Interpreting Engineering Information; Electrical & Mechanical Science for Technicians; Working Practices in Engineering; Mathematics for Engineering Technicians. Students can also choose four specialist units which could include: Electronic Construction & Testing; Engineering Assembly Techniques; Personal Computer Hardware/Software; Computer Aided Drawing Techniques; Selecting Engineering Materials; As part of your programme you will also complete Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT at the correct level for your programme. You may also complete the wider Key Skills: Working With Others and Improving Own Learning & Performance.

3. Entry requirements You will normally need GCSE grade D or better in Maths, Science, English, plus one other. Mature students will be accepted subject to interview. No formal qualifications are needed, however, it is expected that you will have studied Entry Level 1. After assessment you will be placed on the Entry Level Life Skills progression route. Certificated Entry Level NOCN units will also be followed. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Assessment is continuous, by a number of assignments for each subject unit and some tests. These are internally assessed and subject to external verification. The final grade is determined by a "points system" that will be explained during induction week. You will be assessed by building a portfolio of evidence of your skills and by completing an externally assessed set of tasks.
