Course programme

Course overview
The course runs on a Tuesday on a part time day basis, i.e. one day per week over the college year, September to June. You will be required to achieve 31 credits for the qualifications which will entail the following five units: Health and Safety in Fabrication and Welding, Science and Calculations for Fabrication and Welding practice, Fabrication processes – plate or sheet metal, Welding Inspection and Metal Arc Gas shielded welding (MAGS) or Tungsten Arc Gas Shielded Welding (TAGS) or Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA). A fixed timetable of study will be allocated in the first week as part of the course induction, this will show start and finish times of each lesson, units to study, the allocated room and the lecturing staff. There is roughly an equal split between theory and practical study and achievement is by examination and practical assessments.
