Course programme

A BTEC Certificate is equivalent to two GCSEs at grades A* to C. Students gaining a BTEC in Travel and Tourism will have access to a range of career and further education opportunities. You will learn and use a variety of skills throughout the course, including collecting, analysing and interpreting data, communicating your findings in different ways, and identifying and developing the links between different parts of the subject. These skills are in great demand and are recognised and highly valued by employers and colleges.

During the course, you will:
• gain a broad understanding of travel and tourism and study selected areas in more depth
• develop skills, knowledge and understanding in travel and tourism
• have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way
• follow a programme of study that enables progression to further education and employment in travel and tourism
• develop key skills which are highly valued by employers
• gain confidence by developing independent learning skills.

You will need 2 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or above, or successful completion of a full Level 1 Qualification. It is important you have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in travel and tourism, a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

The course is full-time and takes one year to complete.

The course will be assessed through coursework and exams.
