You will learn about the background and structure of the aviation industry, the principal role of air cabin crew and ground staff, customer service, sales and selling techniques, the maintenance of health, safety, security and hygiene of passengers and crew. You will study qualifications to prepare you for a career in air cabin crew or airport services. In addition, UK residential visits to airports, an airline training establishment and a variety of other travel and tourism organisations are included in the programme. A work placement will enable you to gain practical skills. You will need to purchase a uniform to wear. The programme contains one compulsory day’s training at the BA or Virgin training site, for which a fee is payable.

About this course
The programme is full time for one year, starting in September and ending June/July. You are expected to attend for a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Course programme
City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Air Cabin Crew;
City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Aviation Operations on the ground;
Functional Skills qualification in English and Maths.
You will learn through a mixture of taught lessons, group work and practical activities and this will be applied to actual events and activity within travel and tourism. Assessment for the Diploma is via coursework, which may take the form of written assessments; short presentations on given topics; practical role-play or group work for each unit; and an online assessment for one unit.
