G5 Give Clients a Positive Impression of Yourself & Your Organisation

H6 Cut Hair Using Basic Techniques
H9 Shampoo & Condition Hair & Scalp
H10 Style, Dress & Finish Hair Using Basic Techniques
H13 Change Hair Colour Using Basic Techniques
G4 Fulfil Salon Reception Duties
G8 Develop & Maintain Your Effectiveness at Work

It may also be possible to study additional qualifications, for example Manicure and Ear Piercing.
How will I Learn?
Training takes place in 'Images', North Lindsey College's purpose built and well-equipped salon, with specialist equipment and highly trained staff. As such, learners are required to supply and wear a salon uniform, comprising a black skirt or trousers (not jeans), black tunic top and black full shoes. For males black shirts.
Learners will build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course. Guidance is given on format but learners are responsible for collecting the evidence.
Learners may be expected to work in the evening in Images as part of their preparation for working in the industry.
It is brought to your attention that although North Lindsey College will endeavour to obtain clients throughout the course, it is the learners' own responsibility to ensure they have enough models to obtain their qualification.
How will I be Assessed?
There are no final examinations on the course, all work is continually assessed by means of oral, written and practical assessments. A portfolio of evidence will also be produced throughout the course.
What Enrichments are Available?
Learners will have access to various activities within the College to develop and broaden their experience of College life.
All learners will also study the following Functional Skills: Application of Number; Communication; and ICT.
Are there any Trips or Visits?
Learners will normally visit trade fairs and exhibitions, and benefit from guest speakers and suppliers from other companies in the industry. Learners may also be able to enter a number of competitions.
Is there any Work Experience?
Work experience is built into the course.
What can I Progress to?
On successful completion of Level 2, learners can progress onto the NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing course, or into employment within the industry.
