Course programme

This course will follow ECDL Syllabus 5 working with Office 2007. ECDL has four modules, three of them based on the core applications and one scenario based module - Word Processing - Spreadsheets - Presentations - Improving Productivity - The ability to plan, evaluate and improve procedures involving the use of IT tools & systems. Please note that unlike previous ECDL courses at Eastleigh College, this does not include any of the Level 1 Modules covered in ECDL Essentials. Each of the four Level 2 modules is assessed individually and a pass for each one is recorded as the relevant pass mark is achieved. The overall ITQ Level 2 (ECDL) certificate is awarded when passes for all four modules have been recorded. The Word Processing module covers a range of formatting skills, the insertion of tables and images, setting tabs, conducting mail merges and managing output. The Spreadsheet module covers entering and formatting data, entering formulas, and some statistical and logic functions, creating charts and graphs. The Presentation Software module covers the creation of PowerPoint presentations, setting up a master slide, creating speakers notes, inserting and animating graphics. The Improving Productivity through IT module involves selecting an application to suit a task and reflecting on how this application improves efficiency in the workplace. The course is covered in 70 Guided Learning Hours, usually offered as 35 sessions of 2 hours per week. . Students can join no later than 2 weeks after the start of the class, subject to discussion with the tutor. It is recommended, however, that all enrolments are submitted before the commencement date.Students will be taught in practical sessions in the set modules. All of the modules offered are delivered in tutor led sessions. Assessments will be carried out during class when each module has been covered and revised.
