This Level 2 Technical Certificate for Hair Colouring Services aims to provide you with essential technical practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek either further training or employment as a junior colourist providing colouring and other chemical services within the hairdressing Industry.
This qualification is suitable for anyone over the age of 16 years. Your timetable will incorporate one late night a week for the duration of your course.

This qualification will allow you to progress into employment or on a Level 3 Technical Diploma qualification such as:
Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Hairdressing

Where you can enhance the skills and knowledge that you have gained at level two to progress into higher job roles and wider career choices.
This qualification could also lead you to an apprenticeship in Hairdressing.

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hairdressing

N.B. You will spend an evening each week in our salons, to build up your commercial experience.

Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the essential skills and knowledge of Health & Safety, customer service and also the necessary technical skills to be employed as a junior colourist. This qualification could lead to a job as a junior colourist working in one of the following establishments:
Hairdressing salon
Hotel
Cruise ship

In addition to time spent in College you are expected to complete assignments and other work in your private study time either at home or in College. Work experience is an important aspect of your skills development and will require evening and weekend work in hair and make-up. You may be required to attend an evening session – the class will usually end by 8.00pm.

You will need a full Level 2 Technical Certificate in Cutting and Styling.

Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

A well-groomed and professional appearance is essential as you will be working with the public and need to present a professional image.

Great importance is also placed on reliability requiring regular attendance and punctuality.

You will be advised of any materials you will need to purchase for your course when you attend the Welcome Event/Progression interview.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. As with all our programmes, this course includes tutorial sessions and individual reviews, giving you individual time with your personal tutor. You may also be required to study and achieve further qualifications in English and maths to assist in your personal development.

There will be optional extra-curricular activities at an additional cost. These may include visits to course appropriate venues, professional workshops and residential visits.

You will also need to complete compulsory work experience as part of your study programme.
