Level 3 AGCE Computing

AS/AGCE COMPUTING

This is a specialist course which requires a level of capability in Mathematics and will appeal to students with an interest in science and technology.

One year AS/two year AGCE

What qualifications do I need to study on the course?
As well as a Grade B in GCSE Mathematics you will need at least 5 grades C at GCSE or equivalent.

What will I study on the course?

You will learn how a computer works, how to use up-to-date applications and how to solve problems using the computer. The course focuses on using a high-level programming language to create working programmes. You will acquire knowledge and understanding of software system development. Design, develop, test and evaluate a system in relation to a given problem.

Method of assessment
65% Exam and 35% Coursework.

What will I be able to progress to?
Many of our students continue their Computing studies at University to gain qualifications in subjects such as system engineering/games programming. Other students have gained employment as network technicians, web designers, programmers and many more computing related areas.
