Performance Studies
AS/A2 Level - Two-year course
Performance Studies is the study of dance, drama and music and how they combine to make performance. The course gives students the opportunity to study different styles of performance with a particular focus on physical theatre, specifically contemporary Dance/Theatre practice and to look at the cultural and social context of the work studied.

Students will explore a range of skills in each art form developing an understanding of how they can work together through practical performance experience and written examinations.

The course offers the opportunity to create individual work and also study and perform the work of professional practitioners. Students build up their knowledge of performance through participation in workshops and trips to see productions.

Careers and Further Studies
This course supports entry into Higher Education either at degree level or at a Performing Arts College. It also supports entry directly into employment. Career options include professional performer, arts management, community arts, social work, teaching, arts therapy or work in the media. This course would be an advantage to anyone needing effective communication skills in any career area.

General Entry Requirements
Students will need the following:
  • An average GCSE points score of 4.7 calculated from your eight best GCSEs or equivalent vocational qualifications but must include GCSE Maths and English Language.
  • At least five GCSEs at grade C or above which must include GCSE English Language.
