This course is about the removal of sections from a tree crown under the control of rope rigging and lifting gear. The course is aimed at those with significant experience of arboriculture operations and chainsaw operations in a canopy. 

What modules are covered?

This course covers the use of rigging for the removal of small tree sections in relation to pruning operations where targets below may pose a significant risk through to the removal of part/whole trees where targets do not allow for free-fall/hand thrown techniques.

How will I be assessed?

Practical assessment by NPTC assessor, usually in the week following the course. Successful candidates will gain NPTC certification.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Full level 2

You must have the following qualifications before attending the course. 

NPTC unit 201 Carry out maintenance of chainsaw and cutting system
NPTC unit 2 0 2 Cross-cut timber using a chainsaw
NPTC unit 2 0 3 Fell and process trees up to 380mm
NPTC unit 2 0 6 Access a tree using a rope and harness
NPTC unit 3 0 6 Carry out aerial rescue operations
NPTC unit 3 0 8 Carry out aerial cutting of trees with a chainsaw using free-fall techniques
