Level 3 Certificate in Assessment (City & Guilds) - Level 3 Overview

This qualification is for individuals working in, or looking to enter roles in assessment.

The qualification will provide individuals who carry out assessment roles in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for their role.

Entry requirements

Individuals will undertake an initial assessment and diagnostic assessment for maths and English prior to enrolment.

Start dates and fees

Cost: £1,500.

How long is the course?

12 months.

How will I be assessed?

Individuals are required to produce a portfolio of evidence, which will contain a variety of assessments covering the criteria stipulated by the awarding body to cover the Level 3 Certificate in Assessment.

Assessments may include:

  • Observations held in the working environment (at least two observations required)
  • Reflective accounts
  • Witness statements
  • Meeting minutes
  • Closed book test

Assessment will be planned with an assessor prior to the assessment taking place.

  • Understanding the Principles and practices of Assessment

This unit is a knowledge based unit on the principles and practices of assessment in a learning and development context.

  • Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment

This unit is competency based unit assessing the occupational competence of others in a work environment.

  • Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

This unit is competency based unit assessing a learner’s vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in contexts other than a work environment.
