2. Course description This course has a great combination of theoretical work and practical application through your placement. The units covered are varied and have been designed to give you a full understanding of how children learn and develop from birth through childhood, you'll also learn about professional best practice in areas like safeguarding and equality. Units include: - Promoting communications - Promoting equality and inclusion - Promoting child and young person development - Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people - Developing positive relationships with children - Supporting positive outcomes for children You'll be fully supported by your tutor who will be able to offer you advice to help you thrive in your placement and guidance on completing your assignments.

Entry requirements You will need to be aged 19+, have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above and be volunteering for a minimum of 12 hours per week in a professional childcare setting, for example: Sure Start Centre, nursery, residential care, child minder, school or working as a health visitor assistant or foster carer. You will need to be able to provide references and undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. 4. Equipment required Where appropriate, any equipment required (e.g. protective clothing) will be discussed with you at interview/enrolment.
