About this course

This NVQ at Brit College is a work-oriented qualification and is suitable and is open to candidates of 18 years of age and over, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on grounds of race, creed or previous academic attainment or learning. However NCFE recommends that Candidates should have ideally achieved qualifications in a related area at Level 2 or above.

Qualification Structure

To achieve the qualification, candidates need to complete eight successfully (8) units comprising of:

  • Four (4) mandatory units.
  • Four (4) optional units taken from the relevant option group of 10 units or from the group of generic units.

Core Units

There are 4 mandatory units:

  • Unit 01 Promote effective communication for and about individuals.
  • Unit 02 Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment.
  • Unit 03 Reflect on and develop your practice (Personal and Professional Development.
  • Unit 05 Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals.

Four (4) optional units from the following list or from Generic route:

  • Unit 28 Contribute to care planning and review.
  • Unit 29 Contribute to planning, monitoring and reviewing the delivery of service for individuals.
  • Unit 30 Support individuals to access and use services and facilities.
  • Unit 31 Support individuals to develop and maintain social networks and relationships.
  • Unit 32 Support the social, emotional and identity needs of individuals.
  • Unit 33 Prepare your family and networks to support individuals requiring care.
  • Unit 34 Provide a home and family environment for individuals.
  • Unit 35 Contribute to the protection of individuals from harm and abuse.
  • Unit 36 Contribute to the prevention and management of abusive and aggressive behaviour.
  • Unit 37 Provide frameworks to help individuals to manage challenging behaviour.

Progression Opportunities

A candidate achieving an NCFE Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care may:

  • Progress to the Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care and/or junior carer position in care homes.

Additional information

Payment options: Course Fee: £3500 per year for overseas students. Course Fee: £2000 per year for local students. The college has the right to revise and amend the fees schedule without any prior notice. Students are to pay requisite tuition fees upon admission either in full or in instalments as agreed with the admissions department of the college. However, any student paying full tuition fees at a time will receive a 10% discount depending on duration and programme. Fees can be paid by bank draft, cheque, bank transfer, credit card or cash.
