Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care (Adults)(2009/2010)
Study Method:
The programme is divided into half-day classroom sessions covering each of the units individually. A unit will be achieved when the candidate has successfully demonstrated competence in both theory and practical aspects of the units.
Duration :One half day per week, over 20 weeks, overall completion (including assessment) up to one year.
Who the Course is For:
The NVQ Care Level 3 is a vocational qualification, which confirms that a candidate is competent to national standards both in theory and practice.
This should be with any adult or elderly client group., including residential and domicillary.
Assessment:
You will be required to attend college to cover the theory of care. To assess your understanding of the theory, questions or assignments will be set by the college tutor and assessed by your assessor.
Course Leads To:
An NVQ Level 3 is equivalent to Senior Carer Level. It can also be considered for entry into nursing. Progression onto Management level would be dependent on obtaining an NVQ Level 4 and being in the appropriate management role.

Candidates must be in an appropriate role in a senior level involving suprevisory responsibiities. You should be in paid employment in an appropriate care setting for at least 2 days per week.
As the NVQ is a vocational qualification, candidates should ensure that they are experienced enough for the level. A reference from an employer will be required. Candidates will also have to sit an assessment and skills audit exercise. This will be discussed at the interview

The Level 3 programme consists of 8 units of competence, which need to be achieved in order to obtain the full qualification.
