The CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport is designed to enhance new and existing expertise in the supply chain, passenger transport, road freight or transport planning environments as well as developing core management
skills.
The CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport is designed for professionals already working within the logistics and transport sectors. It is most suited to those who are aspiring to middle management positions in specialist functional areas such as supply chain management, transport planning or transport operations.
The qualification is open entry and as such is also suitable for graduates in other disciplines who are entering the sector for the first time, although Learners would benefit from having some prior knowledge of the logistics and transport industry at a managerial level.

CILT(UK) is able to offer particular units of its qualifications in the form of CILT(UK) Awards. These Awards enable a Learner to study the units which are relevant or of interest to them. This is particularly useful for those who would like to have their knowledge and expertise recognised in a particular area of logistics and transport but do not necessarily have the time or inclination to complete a full qualification.

How is the qualification assessed?
The CILT(UK) Professional Diploma can be assessed by either examination or competency and requires each candidate to demonstrate:
- Their underpinning knowledge and understanding of particular logistics and transport subjects, and
- Their ability successfully to complete tasks in a logistics and transport environment
Examination route - suitable for graduates (or equivalent) newly recruited to logistics and transport careers.
Competency route - suitable for experienced managers in specialist functional areas.
Course Duration
This varies depending on the method of study chosen. As a guide, the course is designed to be completed within 360 study hours. This comprises 90 guides learning hours for each of the four units. A student should allow 12-24 months to complete the study programme.
