About this course
Entry to this course is via assessment and is open to candidates who have achieved their BSL level 3 and/or iBSL Level 4 who have been working within the Deaf community since this time.

Sylvia Simmonds
Tutor/Head of Training
Sylvia is an experienced tutor in all levels of BSL. She has recently acheived her NVQ4 in BSL Qualification and is currently undertaking her A1 training programme. Since April 2010 she has been in the position of Head of Training at Sign Solutions.
Course programme
Sign Solutions is proud to offer this level 6 BSL programme accredited by iBSL; Deaf-led qualifications at the heart of the Deaf community.
iBSL is an awarding organisation, and is approved and accredited by Ofqual, to provide qualifications and to award credits and certificates for these qualifications.
The award consists of 3 Units: receptive, productive and linguistics. It is this linguistics unit that sets iBSL apart from other qualifications at this level, providing an in-depth knowledge of the linguistics of BSL.
The course programme comprises tutor/assessor contact time and includes opportunities to undertake the assessments required. It is Sign Solutions’ ethos that all BSL students should be taught by an experienced and qualified teacher. Sylvia Simmonds has extensive experience teaching at all levels of BSL, as well as being part of our interpreter training programmes and an approved Deaf Relay interpreter.
Entry to this course is via assessment and is open to candidates who have achieved their BSL level 3 and/or iBSL Level 4 who have been working within the Deaf community since this time.
Assessment Date: Thursday 14th August 2014 Assessment fee £120 (inc vat)*
*non-refundable however, 50% will be refunded from course fee if a place is offered and accepted.
There are 8 group sessions at our premises in Alvechurch as follows commencing on Thursday 25th September 2014 over a 12 month period. There will also be four, one hour tutorials (via Skype) during the course. A full list of dates is available on request.
