The qualification prepares learners for employment in the construction and built environment sector and will be suitable for learners who have already decided that they wish to enter this area of work.  Some adult learners may wish to make the commitment required by this qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment in construction and the built environment or pgress into higher education.  Other learners may want to extend the specialism that they followed on the Level Four BTEC Higher National Certificate programme.

Course programme

There are six mandatory units:

  • Design principles and application
  • Science and materials
  • Applied mathematics
  • Management principles and application
  • Group project
  • Health, safety and welfare
  • A variety of specialist units are also included

You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including written assignments, work-based assignments, work experience, practical assessment, portfolio development and presentations.

It will be delivered through a mixture of workshops, taught sessions, lectures, independent learning and work-based assessments.
