Course programme

Popular Music Industries
Level: AS and A Level

Board: OCR

Method of assessment
Of the six modules studied, four are concerned with live performance (gigging) including appearances at our renowned Rockfest. Two modules are concerned with industry and employment matters and are realistic in their interpretation of actually working in the industry. Two of the performance modules are externally assessed.

Why choose this course?
You will have an opportunity to gain the skills required to enter the highly competitive but rewarding music business and an in-depth knowledge of the music industry. The emphasis is on gigging so band membership and performing live regularly throughout the course are the cornerstones of the activity. In the second year, all bands spend time recording at The Atrium (Glamorgan University) in Cardiff. Students also have the chance to crew at the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
