You choose a ‘major’ subject area whilst taking a range of ‘electives’ to tailor your degree to match your passions and interests. Every module in our liberal studies programme has been specifically designed for the degree, delivering you a broad-based education which engages you in critical and interdisciplinary thinking. Liberal arts graduates are well-prepared to make the most of opportunities in a fast-moving global economy. The BA (Hons) Liberal Studies (Media Communications) offers a grounding in media history, theories and developments. You will become experienced in media analysis techniques and media research methods used in industry.  You will examine media law and regulatory issues in relation to new technologies and established media.You will use industry-standard techniques and tools for creating and producing media content across visual, digital and emerging platforms. About this course

Study methods You will benefit from small classes taught by people who are specialists in their fields and by industry professionals. The classes are enhanced by guest lectures from experts and visits to relevant media sites and events. With London as the centre of the media world, the course provides the optimum stage both for analysing the media and for covering stories. Course programme

Majors / pathways

This is an American-style Liberal Studies programme that incorporates an area of specialisation (a major) plus electives chosen from a wide range of subject areas to be taken alongside your major.

There is a major project in the final year of study which enables you to open out the specialist area of your major to the breadth of your learning on the whole programme.

It is also possible to undertake a dual major or one or two minor subject areas alongside your major from other subjects offered within the overall programme. Majors, minors and elective classes are offered in the following subject areas:
