Course programme
This course will develop your observational skills and will encourage you to experiment with different ways of drawing the figure. Working with a life model, you will develop an understanding of perspective, space, light, tone and the appropriate use of materials.
Through a series of drawing exercises, you will be encouraged to explore and develop your personal approach to drawing, with ongoing references to the drawing practices of artists past and present.
Through a mixture of short and long poses, you will have the opportunity to explore a range of materials, including charcoal, graphite, ink and collage, and discover a range of expressive responses to the human form and its surrounding environment.
You will leave this course with a body of work which could be used towards a portfolio for degree study.
Course Outcomes
You will have developed your observational skills and more confident about drawing the figure in relation to its surrounding environment. You will have benefitted from exploring different methods and approaches to seeing and drawing.
Who Should Attend
Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to practise life drawing, this course will help you to develop your skills and confidence in an open and supportive environment. It would suit you if you're looking to build up a strong body of figure drawings to enhance your portfolio, or if you're considering applying to a Foundation or BA course.
