2. Course description For centuries - as far back as Leonardo and Michelangelo - life drawing has been the traditional method for training artists. If you want to sharpen up your drawing and observation skills by drawing directly from a life model either as an experienced artist who wants to maintain your drawing skill or a beginner who wants to improve, this course should suit you. You will improve your understanding of proportion, measurement, shape, tone and your mark-making ability. You will experiment with different materials and you will be able to assemble a portfolio of work. All of this is available to you in our convivial group of artists under the watchful eye of our experienced tutor. We can't guarantee to turn you into a Michelangelo but we can at least point you in the right direction.

3. Entry requirements There are no entry requirements associated with this course. 4. Equipment required You should bring with you an A2, A3 or A4 cartridge paper sketch book, a 3B pencil, pencil sharpener and putty rubber. If you have access to the internet you can visit the sites of the National Gallery, Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the National Portrait Gallery for inspiration! 5. Assessment method Assessment is informal and will be carried out regularly with you by the course tutor.  There are no final qualifications associated with this course.
