Introduction:
Our Adult Continuing Education (ACE) programmes are short leisure courses. They are ideal if you want to learn new skills, pursue an interest, have fun, and find out more about a particular subject without the stress of exams.

This course explores the many and varied approaches to interpreting the life model. Many different media are used such as charcoal, pastel, collage, paint and ink. The course aims to develop observational skills in order to develop drawing ability as well as explore experimental work.

ACE courses are funded by Lancashire Adult Learning.

Study Mode & Location:
This 10 week part-time evening leisure course will last for 2 hours per week. It will be held at Preston College, Park Campus, Moor Park Avenue, Preston, PR1 6AS.

Course Content:
Interpretation of the life figure is made through the use of a variety of media such as pencil, charcoal, soft pastel, ink and paint.

Various approaches to the interpretation of the life model are made including some more abstract and experimental techniques. Drawing and observational skills are developed through the exploration of line, tone, form, colour and composition. Past and present artists work are examined to help this learning process.

Assessment:
There is no formal examination for this subject so a variety of assessment methods will be used.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
This course can lead to other ACE courses or to OCNW (Open College of the North West) START or A unit courses.

You will need to purchase art materials and paper during this course.
