This course is the same as the one which is delivered on-campus at the University of Northampton. Students take the same modules and complete the same assessments. Students are provided with full access to the University's online library and virtual learning environment. This course will develop students' analytical, evaluative and research skills, and provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between contemporary domestic and international legal frameworks. It provides students with the opportunity to obtain a much deeper understanding of cutting-edge international commercial law across a broad range of subjects. It combines real-world insights, strong practitioner contact and specialist instruction. All classes take place at Birkbeck College (Bloomsbury campus) and students have full access to library facilities.

About this course

Applicants require a first or second class degree in Law or a Joint Honours degree with Law as the major component. Applicants who do not meet this requirement but who have relevant professional and personal experience and the potential to achieve the academic standard are also encouraged to apply. Applicants whose native language is not English must provide evidence of their English language capability. The level required for study on Master’s degree courses is IELTS 6.5 (minimum category score of 6.0) or equivalent.

Course programme

Students normally study three modules in each semester, followed by the dissertation. Students are formally assessed by coursework (there are no examinations). In addition, students may be informally assessed in a number of different ways, including individual presentations.

All modules are compulsory. Students complete 180 credits.
