Machine Embroidery Mixed Crafts (Level 3)

Course Aims:
To learn design, embroidery and mixed craft skills using sewing machine techniques. Students have the opportunity to develop their individual skills within Machine Embroidery / Mixed Crafts and Textiles

Course Content:
Tbuild upon previous skills and techniques and create advanced work using freestyle embroidery, quiltingand fabric manipulation techniques. Students will follow a commercial brief throughout the course and research current styles and designers.

Progression:
There are a variety of Art & Design part-time course across the Faculty.

Awarding Body:
NCFE

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator. As an integral part of the course all students will be expected to complete a workbook evidencing competence in the assessment criteria. Research into other artists' work is expected.

Qualification:
NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Creative Craft (Embroidery)

Materials and equipment check list availableat first session.

Other Costs:
Learners will need to provide their own notebook and pencils, fabrics, threads, sewing kit etc.

Duration:
5 hours a week for 30 weeks.
