Content
If you are considering magazine publishing as a career, then this is the course for you.
The course focuses on the knowledge and skills required within magazine publishing, which include design, brand management, advertising, sales and distribution, developing new on-line magazines and business models.
The course is designed to develop a wide range of academic and vocational skills, plus work-related knowledge, skills in communication, presentation and project management. These will enable you to work as a member of a team and as an individual.
Structure
Year 1
In the first year you will explore changing business models and their impact on print media. Studies will include magazine planning and development, design, media law and contextual studies. Learning is project-led and team working skills are developed through group-based projects.
Year 2
Creativity, the importance of content creation and how design is integral in interpreting content are the focal points in the second year. There are also units on finance, advertising sales, marketing and distribution. You will produce a magazine as a group, concentrating on the area of magazine publishing that interests you the most. You can also select an elective from a wide choice offered across the College.
Year 3
The focus in Year 3 falls on the future of magazine publishing and the model publishers develop to maintain sustainability. You will submit a research-based project or an artefact with a written evaluation. Many graduates have been successful in finding employment in magazine publishing houses, PR and advertising.

Our graduates find employment in most departments of magazine publishing. As publishing courses provide students with good transferable skills many of our graduates have developed their careers in PR and advertising. Others have branched out on their own and successfully launched magazines.
