Course Level 2

Description


Course Length
An apprenticeship in Maintenance Operations will take 22 months to complete.

What will I study?
Mandatory Units:

Store resources ready for use
Erect and dismantle working platforms
Contribute to efficient working practices
Complete works for handing over
Develop customer relationships

Optional Units Group A - 5 units from 10:

Repair and renew wood components
Repair and renew basic plumbing components
Renew floor and wall tiling
Renew sink and sanitary appliances
Renew rainwater components
Repair and renew fencing components
Install and renew ironmongery
Prepare surfaces and apply paint by brush and roller
Renew small areas of wall
Remove and renew false ceilings

Optional Units Group B - 4 units from 10:

Erect and dismantle access platforms (up to 5m high)
Repair masonry
Repair plaster finishes to walls and ceilings
Repair slate and tile pitched roof coverings
Repair and replace concrete slabs and paving
Renew drainage components
Repair rendering to vertical surfaces
Repair and renew glass and glazing (minimum area 1.5sqm)
Renew flashings to roof junctions
Renew and repair floor screeds

Continuous assessment plus a portfolio of evidence to relate to Maintenance Operations.

Technical Certificates - Intermediate Construction Award
The Intermediate Construction Award (ICA), which ensures the learners underpinning knowledge and understanding in the occupational area, is assessed via external examination.

Key Skills
Key skills are a range of generic skills, which are fully integrated into the vocational qualification. Assessment of these key skills is via portfolio evidence and external examination. However, exemption can be gained from proxy qualification.

Application of Number Level 1 - This develops the candidates ability to interpret straightforward information, carry out calculations accurately, and interpret results and present findings using charts and diagrams.

Communication Level 1 - This develops the candidates ability to read and identify main points and ideas from documents and write about straightforward subjects.

Health & Safety Test - Test undertaken at a registered Driving Theory Test Centre.
