Course programme

Take a journey through the history, political, social, economic, and cultural developments that shaped and continue to shape Europe today. The First World War, the trauma of the interwar period and the Second World War, plus, the impact of totalitarian ideologies, the postwar political order. How we moved from such conflicts to political and economic unity with the emergence and development of the European Union. What has Europe become over the years, is it safer and more stable today than half a century ago, and what will the development of a political ‘Europe’ mean for the UK now and in the future?

With Hagai Segal: an analyst, consultant and advisor, specialising in Middle-East affairs, geo-strategic issues, and modern terrorism, our Scholar in Residence Hagai lectures at New York University in London and won their 2007-8 Annual Teaching Award. You’ve seen him on Sky and the BBC, now see him at Ivy House.

Monday mornings 10.30am-12.30pm.
