The Post-Graduation in Management and Direction of Health Services was designed to provide the professionals of the Health area with the necessary Management and Economics skills and offers an integrated vision of its application to Health Services Management.
The faculty of the program is made up of professionals who have already held the highest positions in several health institutions, by consultants from various organizations (from the sector and others) and by professors from the University of Porto.
Participants are exposed to multiple perspectives to solve problems and teamwork is strongly promoted, which is now considered as fundamental in the management of organizations in this area. All this contributes to a solid and multidisciplinary training that effects real change in the professional course of many of our students.

This program will certainly be a professional and personal asset for those who attend it, since it responds to the needs and challenges that the market has been presenting.
Attribution of competence in Health Services Management by the Medical Association.

Since July 2016, the Graduate Program in Health Services Management and Management has been approved by the Medical Association and complies with the requirements for admission to the Health Services Management Competency.

In order for former medical students to benefit from this, they will need to register, attend and be evaluated in an additional module of Ethics and Deontology, consisting of 3 sessions of 2 hours. This process does not cost any students.

Understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of economics and management in the direction of health sector organizations.
Be able to use tools to support decision making and implement effective strategies.
Understanding the recent changes in the Portuguese health sector and proposing new solutions to the problems and challenges of health institutions.

Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists and Senior Health Technicians who wish to specialize in Health Services Management and Direction.
All professionals of higher education who wish to acquire knowledge or perform functions within the scope of Health Services Management and Administration, such as hospital administrators, clinic directors and laboratories and directors of medical and nursing action services or the like.

The school calendar is as follows:

  • 1st quarter: September to December 2017
  • 2nd quarter: January to March 2018
  • 3rd quarter: April to July 2018

Schedule

Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Curricular structure

The program will last 270 hours of face-to-face training, distributed over three quarters.

Master Classes

Throughout the year Porto Business School organizes three specific Master Classes for students, with national and international speakers. These sessions, lasting 3 hours each, will take place on Saturday afternoons, once a quarter.

Project

Project applied to solve a practical challenge integrating the knowledge obtained throughout the program.
