Teaching:
This course has two components – a taught component and a research component (dissertation) each accounting for 50% of your time and effort.
For the taught component, using a blend of learning approaches, including e-learning, students are provided with a rich learning environment in which you will develop a deep understanding of content. The programme is supported by tutorials and seminars to discuss and explore web-based content. Teamwork plays a central role throughout the course - by working collaboratively with your international colleagues, you’ll develop a rich, global perspective. Through classroom simulations, you’ll generate credible and practical solutions to real-business problems, and most importantly, you’ll learn to think critically about topics and issues that come to the fore; challenging the views and growing both as an individual and as a leader of business.
The learning style on MBE is active – you will make choices about what you wish to learn and you will decide how best to achieve your learning objectives; all this will be facilitated by our expert MBE course tutors.
For the research component, each student undertakes a major individual project, which will develop your research and analytical skills and enable you to specialise. Your project is an extended piece of work requiring at least 50% of your time and effort over the course of the year. For this course, your project alone will determine the award of a degree with or without a merit or distinction.
Assessment:
There are no written exams. After each module you will be required to write a post-module assignment (PMA). This typically requires 40 – 60 hours of work and consolidates your learning. Some modules will also include an in-module individual or group assessment or test.
9 x Post Module Assignments (3,000 – 4,000 words each) are formatively assessed. This means you will be required to pass your modules, and you will be given feedback on the strengths of your work and areas for improvement, but no mark will be awarded.
20,000-word dissertation project. Your project is an extended piece of work requiring at least 50% of your time and effort over the course of the year. For this course, your project alone will determine the award of a degree with or without a merit or distinction.
