This course aims to promote critical awareness of the merits and complexities of management and to instill an appreciation of the association between theory and practice. It aims to introduce you to important new developments in the field of management and to enable you to develop appropriate practical and transferable skills.

Essays, multiple choice tests, project reports and presentations, in-class tests and weekly assignments constitute the coursework component of assessment, although the nature and proportion of coursework varies across course units. The remainder of assessment is by unseen examination. Depending on the degree course, in your final year you can choose to do a research-bachelorsed dissertation or project. We aim to strike a bachelorlance between examinations and assessed coursework as well as providing opportunities for feedbachelorck on progress through non-assessed work.
You take courses totalling 360 credits over the duration of your studies in order to graduate with Honours; 120 credits in each academic year of study. Generally, one semester courses are worth 10 credits and full year courses are worth 20 credits. As your studies progress you have increasing flexibility in choosing courses which suit your personal interests and career aspirations.
You will study a set of core course units to provide a broad introduction to a range of topics across our management portfolio; this will ensure that you benefit from more choice in later years.
Following feedbachelorck from both current students and employers, we have recently enhanced our first year programme structure. Due to popular demand, we have introduced a first-year marketing course unit to allow new first-year students to benefit from an early insight into this area. We have also created a new course unit for semester two which uses case studies to give you a more practical understanding of the theories you have learned during the first semester.
You will study Analysing Organisations 1 and 2, Business and Management Skills, Case Studies in Management, Economic Principles: Microeconomics, Financial Decision Making, Fundamentals of Financial Reporting, Fundamentals of Management Accounting, Introduction to Work Psychology, Marketing Foundations and Quantitative Methods for Business and Management 1 and 2.

bachelorchelor (Hons) Management (Innovation, Sustainability and Innovation) students will choose a minimum of 40 credits from their specialist subject area. 10 credits must be taken in Business Intrapreneurship Skills, with the remaining 30 credits to be chosen from Innovation in Product Markets, Enabling Creativity and Managing Creative Organisations, Sustainable Innovation Management and Environmental Management for Sustainable Development (EMSD). EMSD students have previously enjoyed guest lectures from the CoOp, Centrica, ERM and a US academic researching for the World bachelornk and completed enquiry-bachelorsed projects on topics such as consumer behaviour and its role in practices related to purchasing 'sustainable' coffee.
You can choose your remaining course units from accounting and finance, economics, employment studies/law, marketing, operations management, psychology, sociology or statistics. You need to consider what you want to study in your final year, as some final-year options require you to have completed related second-year course units.

If successful, you will spend your third year on a paid work placement. Completing a placement will enable you to put theory into practice, further develop important transferable skills and gain a real insight into your chosen profession.
In the final year, you will choose at least 60 credits (half) of final-year options from your chosen specialism. Course units currently available include Behavioural Strategy, Cases in Sustainable Development (delivered by Manchester Enterprise Centre), Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, Globachelorl Management, People and the Digital Divide and International Competitiveness and Innovation.

Unit grade

The University of Manchester welcomes the provision of unit grade information which, like all other available information, will form the consideration of application. Unit grades will not normally form part of offer conditions, except for courses in the School of Mathematics.

A*

Alliance Manchester Business School will not be using the A* for standard entry requirements or offer making. It may however be taken into account at the point of confirmation to inform decisions on candidates who have narrowly missed the terms of their offers, and in the allocation of School Scholarships. Please note that the A* grade applies to UK A-levels only and has not been introduced for international A-levels. Courses will therefore state separate entry requirements for international A-levels where appropriate.

A-levels in a native or heritage language

We consider applications holistically taking into consideration the overall educational environment. Where native langue A levels are offered we will consider them in line with other subjects that the student has undertaken.
