This course is designed to provide candidates who have little or no prior knowledge or understanding of the legal requirements associated with this practice with underpinning knowledge of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. Suitable for: The course has been designed specifically to suit the needs of all staff involved in conducting Manual Handling assessments or who need an understanding of the assessment process and methods used. It is also suitable to those staff involved in any lifting activities so as they do not endanger themselves, or leave the company vulnerable to future litigation and compensation claims.

Course Content
Mainly theoretical in its delivery but designed to be interactive and match the learning requirements for a range of skill levels.
Objectives of the course:
On completion of the course the delegates will be able to:
- State at least two of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
- Define what is meant by an injury of the vertebra
- Conduct a full manual handling assessment
- Understand how injuries can be caused
- Explain what is meant by anthropometric data
- Demonstrate the kinetic lift
- Explain the term "ergonomics"
Individual candidate knowledge levels are assessed at the end of the course using a short multiple choice questionnaire, after which a results and feedback report is provided to help identify any further training requirements.
Material covered has been aligned to the content of safety sections within the polymer NVQ’s at Levels 1, 2 and 3 and can be used as underpinning knowledge towards achieving these award, if so desired.
