Course programme
We will consider the symbolism contained in Marilyn Monroe’s most famous film characters within three categories: the origins of her celebrity (Ladies of the Chorus, Monkey Business), the establishment of her icon (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Some Like It Hot), and a desire to disrupt widespread perceptions of who she was (Bus Stop, The Misfits).
Psychoanalytic terms will be taught in an inclusive, accessible and engaging way with the help of bespoke PowerPoint slides and video montages. Group discussion will be encouraged, and there will be no assignments outside of class.Additional information
