About this course
Ideally candidates will have achieved a level 1 foundation with us or have a GCSE's in English, Math at grade C or above or have some industry experience. All candidates must undertake an interview and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the marine sector as well as a positive attitude to learning and their development.

Marine Engineering (PEO) NVQ Level 2
About the course:
The marine industry needs people that can not only talk confidently about boats but more importantly can undertake rebuild and maintenance to their engines and ancillary systems to the highest standards.
This course is focused on assisting you in gaining those skills and your ability to demonstrate repeatable quality of workmanship.
This qualification comprises of 6 units and is run for students who have either completed our level 1 course or have gained some skills out in industry and wish to pursue a career in the marine sector.
Course Content:
PEO2/001 : Working Safely In An Engineering Environment
PEO2/002 : Working Efficiently And Effectively In Engineering
PEO2/003 : Using And Communicating Technical Information
PEO2/005 : Producing Components Using Hand Fitting Techniques
PEO2/011 : Preparing And Using Lathes For Turning Operations
PEO2/012 : Preparing And Using Milling Machines
Equipment Requirements:
Safety footwear, Overalls, Pen/Pencil/eraser, and Drawing Equipment as specified.
Assessment:
There are no formal examinations in this qualification, assessments are undertaken on work completed throughout the year.
Progression:
City and Guilds level 2 and/or level 3 in Boat Building or a BTEC National qualification at level 3 in Marine Business or Marine Engineering/Design.
