Why Marketing?

Marketing is an exciting, creative, fast-paced and varied sector which continues to be positively driven by a number of external forces which are likely to persist, for example, globalisation and new technology. Marketing enables companies to satisfy customer demand, to add value to their offerings in order to position themselves effectively against the competition, to develop business opportunities in an ever-challenging business environment and to create value for the organisation, its customers and society as a whole. Chief Executives look to marketing to truly impact organisational performance by driving brand differentiation, instilling a customer focus and advising on opportunity development and strategy formulation. It is perhaps no surprise therefore that 1 in 7 of all UK students hope to become a marketer. The even better news is that current employment prospects remain good and successful marketing graduates are likely to be rewarded with several careers in both the corporate and agency sectors. Quite simply, marketing graduates find jobs.
What is special about Worcester Business School’s degrees in Marketing?

Marketing is our most popular subject, so we have a strong portfolio of marketing degrees all mapped against the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Professional Marketing Standards. Our degrees are strongly vocationally oriented, with practical assessments designed to reflect and prepare you for the exciting and current real world of marketing. You will acquire a strategic approach to marketing by exploring its role in the context of consumer behaviour and other management functions operating in an international and global environment where marketing and marketing communications are key to sustainable business success and growth. You will learn to be an excellent communicator, analyst, problem solver, decision maker, teamworker and business strategist, as well as developing skills in creative thinking, time management, personal initiative, self-reliance, organisation, prioritisation, responsiveness, proactivity and reflective thinking.

You will have the opportunity to expand your skill set further by taking an integrated placement year in paid work and/or studying for one semester at one of our partner universities in the USA, Europe or Australia. You will study in an interdisciplinary Business School and will be part of a staff and student body which thrives on its international and intercultural links. You will be taught by international scholars, professional marketers and practitioners.
