Would you like to learn all the unrevealling misteries of makinga mask? ILE gives you the opportunity of learning how to work with leather and how tocreate your own mask.

At the end of the course, you will be able to take two masks at home and you will have learned how the process is done. In addition to this, you will also learn about the history behind the masks.

The course will take place in Florence, and Venice, Italy. The Mask Making workshop will be 5 hours per day and participants will have the late aftertoon free to explore Florence. Participants can combine this course with the Dance and Theatre of Commedia dell’Arte or Theatrical costumes course which takes places before this course.

About this course

This Mask Making workshop takes you deep into the Mask-Making world. You will learn Mask Design which includes sculpture for leather masks, mold making, leather molding, cutting and trimming, and coloring and finishing. You will also learn the history of the mask and about some Commedia dell’Arte character types. You will finish this class with two masks and the knowledge of the process and experience to create more masks.
