Master of Arts in Interaction Design - 90 ECTS
-
The MAS in Interaction Design gave me the chance to acquire knowledge and skills about both design and technology and gain different perspectives in order to solve problems in my tasks.

The program includes a lot of various workshops, from programming and designing physical and digital products to even basic electrical engineering. What is even more interesting is the connection between them – the creation of an online and offline product. In the program, you get the main ideas and understanding of each field, which gives a solid ground to start any new project you have in mind.

-
For me the most valuable key lesson I learnt during the program is connected to the thick schedule of different classes in such a short time frame. This teaches how to juggle many tasks, allowing you to understand what are the most important tasks you really need to prioritize and which ones are less in need of the best solution.

Our Master of Arts (MA) in Interaction Design integrates design thinking, prototyping techniques, digital fabrication, programming, and physical computing in one program aimed at the development of projects in which the interaction between the design culture and the technological development allows to generate design-driven innovations.
The master provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career in interaction design. A pragmatic problem-solving approach to design is applied in a laboratory environment. Peer to peer learning, iterative processes and the rapid prototyping of various solutions qualify the students to pursue careers in industry, research centres and design practices, wherever technological innovation and design meet.
This full-time program with a duration of three semesters is structured in five modules, each of them scheduling a variety of design, methodological and technical courses. The third semester (which corresponds to the 5th module) is entirely dedicated to the thesis project. This module also allows students to acquire practical and professional skills with an internship at companies or firms.

About this course
The aim of the Master of Arts in Interaction Design is to teach skilled professionals who work in interdisciplinary design teams and within the most innovative industries and design fields.
Students have the opportunity to acquire Human Centred Design methods for the analysis and the solution of design problems and to autonomously practice with research methods. The ability to use existing methods and to develop new ones is one of the main goals of the program: in fact, it qualifies the students for careers in companies at the intersection of innovation and interaction design.
The master’s program is intended for students with creative talent combined with strong interest in topics and activities concerning the technological, social, and cultural context within which the future will be designed.
The requirement for the acceptance to the Master of Arts in Interaction Design is a bachelor degree in Design (graphic design, industrial design, interior design, media design, web design, etc). Students with a bachelor degree in fields such as architecture, engineering, humanities and fine arts are entitled to apply. Makers and innovators with a background in communication sciences and business management are also welcome to apply. If accepted, they have to obtain extra 10-15 ECTS by attending online courses or courses offered by SUPSI during the program.
