  • The MAS in Interaction Design gave me the chance to acquire knowledge and skills about both design and technology and gain different perspectives in order to solve problems in my tasks.
    |
  • The program includes a lot of various workshops, from programming and designing physical and digital products to even basic electrical engineering. What is even more interesting is the connection between them – the creation of an online and offline product. In the program, you get the main ideas and understanding of each field, which gives a solid ground to start any new project you have in mind.
    |
  • For me the most valuable key lesson I learnt during the program is connected to the thick schedule of different classes in such a short time frame. This teaches how to juggle many tasks, allowing you to understand what are the most important tasks you really need to prioritize and which ones are less in need of the best solution.

Our Master of Arts (MA) in Interaction Design integrates design thinking, prototyping techniques, digital fabrication, programming, and physical computing in one program aimed at the development of projects in which the interaction between the design culture and the technological development allows to generate design-driven innovations.

The master provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career in interaction design. A pragmatic problem-solving approach to design is applied in a laboratory environment. Peer to peer learning, iterative processes and the rapid prototyping of various solutions qualify the students to pursue careers in industry, research centres and design practices, wherever technological innovation and design meet.

This full-time program with a duration of three semesters is structured in five modules, each of them scheduling a variety of design, methodological and technical courses. The third semester (which corresponds to the 5th module) is entirely dedicated to the thesis project. This module also allows students to acquire practical and professional skills with an internship at companies or firms.

About the course: My key learning at MAInD has been that technology is not a solution by itself. Technology is an enabler to provide the best experience for users. Code, 3D printing, UI design are useless if not targeted towards users’ happiness. Plus, remember that design has to be fun. Do your best, be curious, explore. If you make mistakes, nobody will die.

The Master of Arts diploma in Interaction design awards 90 ECTS.

First semester

The first module Interaction Design Fundamentals focuses on a series of workshops and courses that provide the technical, methodological and practical skills of the Interaction Design discipline.

Second semester

The three following modules Designing Advanced Artifacts, Designing Advanced Environments and Designing Advanced Services are project-driven: they give students the opportunity to face a particular area of interaction design through the development of projects centered on specific design topics, such as appliances, interactive spaces, digital services and ecosystems, and cutting-edge technologies.

Third semester

The third semester is dedicated to the development of the thesis project. Students do design research to generate innovative products and to further develop their competences with an internship at companies and industries.
