Course programme

The Salford MBA is one of the longest established Masters of Business Administration programmes in the UK.
Since its inception, it has striven to develop bold business leaders who can provide an enterprising and entrepreneurial approach to management.

Determined Students, Bold Leaders

To create bold leaders we require committed students who want to grasp the opportunities that we can provide. If you are ambitious, creative, competitive and determined yet realise the need for collaboration, consensus building and compromise then our MBA is for you. You should also have a minimum of 3 years managerial work experience.

The Salford MBA is a 12 month full time programme; you will work hard from the start but will find the experience rewarding, challenging and possibly exhausting!

Practice Led Teaching

We focus on enterprise and entrepreneurship and work in partnership with local, national and international industry to facilitate change - and our emphasis on practice led teaching ensures that our students see the benefit of these partnership experiences in the classroom.

Many Backgrounds, One Goal

The decision to leave work and study for an MBA is often part of a plan to affect change, usually of career direction or the speed at which career progression will be achieved. Having made that decision the next step is to ensure that these outcomes are achieved.

The knowledge and experiences you have gained on The Salford MBA will help you achieve this change in your career trajectory. From the day you arrive you will be provided with a dedicated careers advisor who will work with you to develop your CV, will help you with your job search and selection strategy and will hone your interview skills via various careers workshops and activities. We also provide you with access to the key MBA recruitment companies and issue regular MBA career newsletters

Learning from Industry

The Salford MBA integrates the study of management theory with "best practice" from leading companies.

As part of the MBA programme we include opportunities for students to visit various international companies. For example as part of the Operation & Performance Management module students will spend a day at Jaguar cars exploring the company's production and quality assurance processes.

Also, as part of the Marketing and International Marketing modules we spend a day at the Wedgwood ceramics factory examining the challenges of competing in a global market, identifying new market opportunities whilst maintaining a internationally recognised corporate image'

Key entrepreneurial skills that we will help you develop include:

Presentation Skills You will engage in presentations both individually and as groups to different types of audiences. We will help you become an effective public speaker who can confidently engage an audience and effectively use a range of presentation aids.
Critical Analysis SkillsWe will encourage you to think actively rather than passively accepting what you read and hear. To grasp entrepreneurial opportunities you must be able to construct a rational, logical questioning approach that is not distorted by your own bias - we aim to turn you into a truly original critical thinker.
Team Working SkillsOur MBA intake is small and highly interactive - from the start of the programme you will learn the skills that allow a successful entrepreneur to work with, rather than against, the teams in which they work. You will enhance your negotiation skills to ensure that both you and your team perform to the maximum.
