The aim of master’s degree in Automotive Engineering is to produce well trained students who will be future professionals and respond to the needs of this industrial sector.

About this course

This study programme aims to provide graduates with a wide range of technical skills and independent learning ability to make them effective in organisations that design and develop automotive products.
Graduates are employed in the automotive industry, which comprises a range of businesses, institutes and agencies active in the research, development, manufacturing, validating, maintaining and selling of products associated with vehicles and transport system. ‘Vehicles’ should be understood as a broad concept covering passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, special vehicles, motor cycles, but also pulled vehicles such as trailers, semi-trailers and caravans.

You will have plenty of opportunities to apply and diversify your skills through graduate projects, internships, career programmes, clubs and societies. One of the well-known projects is Formula Student, other one – pneumomobile.
University closely cooperates with Porsche distributors in Lithuania and the best students of the Faculty are awarded with personalized Porsche scholarships.

WHAT WILL STUDENTS LEARN?

Automotive Engineering (along with transport engineering) is a branch of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydrodynamic, software and safety engineering. Is applied to: investigate and design, manufacture and operation of mobile machinery, railway transport, motorcycles, automobiles and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems.
Engineering attributes and disciplines that are important to the Automotive Engineer field are included in the study programme:
  • finite element method;
  • vehicle and transmissions dynamics and hydrodynamics;
  • optimization and optimal control methods;
  • mathematical modelling of vehicle systems;
  • railway transport energetics;
  • traffic flow;
  • reliability and durability in Automotive Engineering;
  • NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) engineering;
  • fuel economy and emissions;
  • transmissions, drivetrains and chassis;
  • 3D modelling (CAD, CAM and CAE systems);
