You'll be ready to change lives as a high school teacher with the graduate-entry Master of Teaching (Secondary) from Charles Sturt University. Our online master's degree qualifies you to teach one or more subjects to secondary students and support their social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.

The Master of Teaching (Secondary) provides a teaching qualification in two years full-time or four years part-time via online study. A selection of subjects are offered in Session 3 to accelerate the completion of your degree or spread your study commitments across the year.

Subjects

For each 8 point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, residential schools, or examinations.

If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.

As a Charles Sturt University student, throughout your course you have a responsibility to continue to develop skills in English language, literacy and numeracy as appropriate to your discipline. This ongoing development will enable you to effectively participate in your course and graduate prepared to enter the workforce.

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.Full subject list
To graduate with the Master of Teaching (Secondary), students must complete 128 points (16 subjects). All subject have a value of 8 points with the exception of two subjects, one of which has a zero point value and another with a 16 point value.  The basic course structure consists of 16 subjects made up of 12 core subjects plus 4 restricted electives (at least two Curriculum Method subjects), and two further restricted electives).
