About this course

- Apply tone to a photo plate etching
- Manipulate an image to be made into a photo plate
- develop, etch and print a photo etching
- have an understanding of different methods of creating a photo plate.

Basic materials will be provided but you are welcome to bring any extra or special materials.

Course programme

Using industry standard materials we will be creating etching and or photo-etching metal plates from your personal source imagery
Exploring the possibilities of colour inking combined with collage (Chine collé)
Applying basic image adjustments digitally to artwork specifically for the purposes of photo-etching
Creating a positive for photo-etching to make a photo-etching plate
Methods of creating continuous tone in etching (traditional aquatint) and photo-etching (digital faux aquatint)
Developing and etching an image onto metal photo-plate.
