Moulding & Coremaking
Must complete one unit from the following:

• Unit 4: Producing Sand Moulds using Loose Patterns Manually
• Unit 5: Producing Sand Moulds using Plated Patterns
• Unit 6: Producing Sand Cores Manually

Plus two more units from the following:

• Unit 7: Locating, Assembling and Core Setting in Sand Moulds
• Unit 8: Forming Runner, Riser and Feeder Systems in Sand Moulds
• Unit 9: Closing and Securing Sand Moulds for Casting
• Unit 10: Assembling Cores to Form Complete Moulds
• Unit 11: Assembling Cores using Jigs and Fixtures

Casting Inspection
Must complete any three units from the following:

• Unit 12: Proof Inspection of Sample Castings
• Unit 13: Final Inspection of Castings
• Unit 14: Inspecting Castings using Coordinate Measuring Methods (CMM)
• Unit 15: Inspecting Castings by Magnetic Particle Testing Methods
• Unit 16: Inspecting Castings using Penetrant Flaw Detection Techniques
• Unit 17: Preparing Ultrasonic Flaw Detection Equipment for Testing Activities
• Unit 18: Inspecting Castings using Ultrasonic Testing Techniques
• Unit 19: Preparing Work areas for Radiographic Testing of Castings
• Unit 20: Carrying out Radiographic Testing Activities on Castings
• Unit 21: Analysing and Interpreting the Results of Radiographic Tests on Castings

Pressure Die Casting
Must complete any three Units from the following:

• Unit 22: Setting Pressure Die Casting Machines for Production
• Unit 23: Producing Sample / Trial Castings using a Pressure Die Process
• Unit 24: Producing Castings using a Pressure Die Process
• Unit 25: Maintaining Pressure Die Casting Machine Performance

Surface Finishing
Must complete two units from the following

• Unit 26: Finishing Materials by Applying Liquid Coatings by Dipping
• Unit 27: Finishing Materials by Applying Liquid Coatings by Spray Methods
• Unit 28: Applying Industrial Coatings by Electro / Autophoretic Methods

• Unit 57: Trimming Composite Mouldings using hand Tools

Plastic Injection Moulding
Must complete two of the following units:

• Unit 60: Setting Plastic Injection Moulding Machines for Production
• Unit 61: Producing Components using Plastic Injection Moulding Machines
• Unit 62: Handing Over Plastic Injection Moulding Machines to Production Operators

Heat Treatment
Must complete both of the following units

• Unit 63: Preparing Materials Before and After Heat Treatment Activities
