Course programme

The Center is focused on research, education, and innovation around the set of selected key thrust areas of advanced manufacturing: polymer-based composite materials, 3D-printing technologies, thermal spray processing, digital design and manufacturing, and product lifecycle management. Its strategic objectives are:

  • to perform cutting-edge basic and applied research in the key thrust areas of advanced manufacturing;
  • to educate the next generation of researchers, engineers, and practitioners to assume a role of technical leadership in research and innovation of high-tech sector;
  • to create business opportunities in the key thrusts areas of advanced manufacturing in the form of advisory services, centers of collective use services, industry-funded research, and new enterprises.

Since its inception in 2015, the CDMM has established six research laboratories that are being used for both research and education: Composite Materials and Structures Laboratory, Additive Manufacturing Laboratory, Mechanical Testing and Materials Characterization Laboratory, Laboratory for Cyber-Physical Systems, Laboratory of Thermal Spray, and Micro and Nano Mechanics Laboratory.

Two educational programs in engineering science and digital technologies have been developed and fully accredited: Master’s program in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Ph.D. program in Mechanics. Full curriculum for these programs consisting of over 20 M.Sc. and Ph.D. level courses, taught by CDMM faculty, is developed.
